Hi!

My name’s Rupert, and I’m a massive fan of Spanish, just like you!

And at one point, I too was seriously FED UP with not being able to understand fast Spanish!

That’s why I worked out a foolproof system to improve my listening and QUICKLY 🚀

And when I say foolproof, I mean it …

I’m not one of those linguists who can speak 10 languages fluently and a pinch of Swahili; I’m a GARDEN-VARIETY language learner, just like you!

Well, probably like you … according to the law of averages, at least!

I was terrible at Spanish in school and, to be honest, my accent still isn’t perfect …

But after 15 years of trial and tribulation, I’ve finally managed to crack the code.

Anyway, that’s enough jibber-jabber from me; it’s time to get into the juicy deets!

Here’s the first step (of 6!) to understanding fast Spanish!

The key is something called the “Pareto Distribution”.

Pareto was an Italian polymath (so, yeah, NOT your run-of-the-mill kind of guy) who worked out that 80% of the wealth in Italy belonged to just 20% of the population.

The 80/20 rule was born.

And what does this have to do with Spanish?

Well, quite a lot, actually!

It’s thought that 80% of everyday communication in a language can be covered with a core vocabulary of just 2,000 words!

Yes, you read that right, no need to adjust the glasses 😉

And so?

Well, if you want to understand fast Spanish anytime soon, you need to STOP spending hours learning obscure vocab.

Just stop!

Master the most common words first, I promise you it’ll be worth it!

And you can head back to the nether regions of your dictionary once you’ve done so.

Oh, and in case you don’t have one handy, here’s a PDF OF THE 2,000 MOST COMMON WORDS!

Personally, I’d stick 10 of them a day into a program called ANKI.

It’s a free spaced-repetition program and it’s WAY more efficient than writing out flashcards or word lists.

Just trust me.

You can even add images and recordings (from a website like Forvo) to your ANKI flashcards.

That might sound super hi-tech, but it’s actually REALLY easy to do.

And it’s sure to get those neural pathways firing!
